Small business lending up 20% with Santander
Small businesses have reasons to be cheerful, with Santander about to add another 318 RBS banks to its UK portfolio they have announced that in the UK loans to small businesses had risen to 20% to £7.5bn but still this gives Santander a market share of only 3.2%
Considered as relatively new to the market even though they took over Abbey in 2004, they are regarded as a new competitor for the “big four” banks in the UK – RBS, Lloyds, HSBC & Barclays. They have added pressure to the market as new incumbent Metro Bank gives businesses a new option. Metro become the first new bank to open on high streets for more than a century.
